Some news on what's happening across the car community over the last few days.
So hopefully by this point you've read our first post and got a flavour of what we're about. If not it's just a short one, head back, have a read and let us know what you think.
Ferrari 296 GTS

Yes that's correct we haven't been living under a rock either. Everyone's heard of the release of the 296 GTS (Gran Turismo Spider - for anyone that maybe interested).
There's no real surprises here. It's a 296 GTB with the roof chopped off (2 section folding ridgid hardtop). The A pillars, B pillars and sills have been beefed up as are most roofless versions of cars that don't feature carbon tubs. And well... that's pretty much it!
Main takeaways:
120-degree 2.9 Litre V6 (Twin Turbo - Hot Vee Formation) - with electric motor
Total combined output 830hp.
70kg heavier than the GTB(1470kg) - 1540kg
0-60mph: 2.9 seconds
Max Speed: 205mph
Price: £270,000 (Estimated)

2022 BMW i7 - 600bhp iX-based powertrain

I know what you're thinking... It's not god awful to look at?! Finally someone at BMW has found a specsavers and has started to pull their design language back from the depths of despair.
It was only the other day I was saying to a friend that I am coming round to some of the new designs being produced by BMW. But what we couldn't figure out is that whether we actually liked the new designs or that they're just better that the absolute dog muck designs that are now in the current model lineups.
Anyway let's talk about this new model. It will ride on BMW's CLAR platform which is already employed on the likes of the iX, i4 and latest 2 series coupe. Incorporated within this it will use it's 5th-gen eDrive system and in its most powerful trim (M60) will produce more than 600bhp. This will get the vehicle from 0-60 in 4.6sec and will have an electronically limited top speed of 124mph. Range is quoted at an estimated 305 miles per charge (if you only ever apply a feather weight on the go faster pedal) and yes... I am now unbelievably bored of talking about electric cars... Shall we move on?

Defender V8 - Another one?

So as some guessed, the "new-shape" V8 defender released not too long ago wasn't quite aggressive enough. It would appear JLR left some crazy in the tank for this new vehicle that has been spied testing at the ring.
We don't know much information about it yet. We can't even tell you whether it will have 5.0litre supercharged V8 (hopefully with some extra horsepower!) or whether it will it will have the Twin-Turbo BMW V8 that looks likely to be coming to newer models.
What we can tell you is that it will most likely continue the 'more' trend that seems to be apparent and will be more expensive (North of £100k) and more limited (yes by that I mean fewer production numbers) than the current V8 defender.
Closing Remarks
As you've probably guessed we're going for the "Progress over perfection" approach to the content here at The Car Collective. We are always aiming to improve our production quality whether that's IG posts, YouTube, the Website or the Blog.
